About Us

The Theta Lambda chapter of Tau Beta Sigma was installed on Auburn’s campus on May 24, 1992. We currently have sixteen Active sisters, and we serve the Auburn University Music Department.

Within the 2016-2017 school year, our sisters recorded over 1335 service hours through our chapter projects for our band and our community. For our marching band, we assist with all aspects of uniform organization, maintenance, and distribution, and we ensure that our band members are looking their best. Outside of this, we also assist with Summer Band Camps and Honor Bands hosted by the Music Department, and we help with setup for our ensemble rehearsals.

Our chapter is also very involved with service to our community. In 2016-2017, we partnered with local schools to help out at All-State Band auditions and the MPA Festival. We partner with Kappa Kappa Psi from AU Rock Stars, a group that goes to high school football games and joins the high school marching band to play stand tunes during the game. AU Rock Stars also performed stand tunes and sang Christmas Carols at a local nursing home. Theta Lambda organized two Scouts Days over the past year. We helped local Boy Scouts ad Girls Scouts earn their music merit badge by making DIY instruments, learning about music around the world, and trying out different instruments.

Theta Lambda strives to participate in District and National projects as well, and we hosted the 2016 Southeast District Convention at Auburn University along with the Pi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. We were recognized at the Southeast District Convention in 2017 for completing every requirement in the Focus on Five Campaign. We also hosted two Women in Music speakers.

We are also a very social group of sisters, regularly hosting events with Auburn’s Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Phi Mu Alpha chapters, including a Halloween social, a semiformal, and our annual music organization Spring Formal.

We were honored and excited to be named a 2015 Chapter Leadership Award Finalist. War eagle!
